    The Runaway Train

Rating:

Disaster:

Train Wreck

Plot Summary:

The Sierra Pacific train departs from an icy winter resort town, high in the mountains. Soon after it begins it's downward journey, the engineer discovers that the train's brakes are not working. The train quickly builds up speed and seems likely to derail at a harsh turn unless someone can figure out a way to stop the train...

Comments:

'The Runaway Train' certainly does not offer anything new to the disaster movie genre. The characters are quite interesting but and are not easy to watch, in that they fail to create any kind of connection with the audience. The plot is entertaining enough but the run of the mill dialogue tends to make the film drag, despite only being 73 minutes long. The ending was also predictable. Nothing fantastic here.

Special Effects:

There are no special effects shots in 'The Runaway Train' as all the train shots were of a real train.
