    The Flight of the Phoenix

Rating:

Disaster:

Air Disaster

Plot Summary:

An aircraft crash lands in the desert leaving the survivors to try to figure out a way to get out. One of the passengers claims he designs aircraft and believes that the wreckage can be used to construct a smaller aircraft.

Comments:

An extremely watchable adventure story with, unfortunately, very few disaster effects. However, the cast alone is enough to satisfy the disaster lover with James Stewart, Ernest Borgnine and George Kennedy all making an appearance. The plot moves along at a fair pace and manages to maintain the audiences interest all the way through. The characters are fairly simple and enjoyable to watch. 'The Flight of the Phoenix' misses out on a higher score because it focuses the majority of the film on finding a way out of their predicament.

Special Effects:

The special effects are what you would expect for a film of this age. The initial crash scene takes place during the opening credits and is limited to some fairly uninteresting interior shots. Watch this one for the adventure.
