    The Crowded Sky

Rating:

Disaster:

Air Disaster

Plot Summary:

A commercial airliner and an Air force jet are in danger of a mid-air collision, due to a faulty radio on board the jet. The personal lives of each of the pilots and some of their passengers are told in small flash back memories leading up to the tragic crash in America's crowded sky.

Comments:

'The Crowded Sky' is a little hard to appreciate nowadays as the romance and dialogue is dated. The characters are simple enough and fun to watch and the plot is well crafted, though seemingly secondary to the personal lives of the characters. Overall, an enjoyable classic air disaster film that is very similar to 'Airport' and 'The Doomsday Flight'. Please note, the image to the right is the movie poster.

Special Effects:

The special effects are actually quite impressive for a film of this age. The final crash landing was quite obviously done using a miniature model aircraft and doesn't look too realistic. However, the actual crash scene looks fairly convincing and was more than I expected. An overall good effort with story and effects.
