    Meteor

Rating:

Disaster:

Asteroid

Plot Summary:

The Earth is once again threatened by a huge meteor. American and Russian scientists join forces, and arsenals, to attempt to destroy the meteor before it destroys the Earth. However, fragments of the meteor and political interests may prevent the necessary actions from taking place.

Comments:

'Meteor' is a fairly brainless but outright enjoyable disaster flick, produced at the end of the spate of seventies disaster movies. It boasts some big name actors and an exciting storyline and script. Definitely worthy of a place in every disaster movie lovers 'hall of fame'.

Special Effects:

The special effects shots that feature during the avalanche and tidal wave shots are excellent and very well done considering the films age. The final impact scene however, left a little to be desired as it was made up of obscure "fiery destruction scenes" and poorly lit stock footage. Still, that aside, it's a great story with some fantastic effects. A must see.
