Krakatoa: East of Java

Rating:

Disaster:

Volcano

Plot Summary:

A crew of treasure hunters are looking for a lost treasure of pearls on the island of Krakatoa. It is at this time that Krakatoa begins to erupt. Eventually the volcano erupts sending a huge tidal wave toward their ship and the surrounding islands.

Comments:

A great tale of bounty hunters at sea but the full length version of the film does tend to drag on. The acting is great, the script is well paced and exciting. As a matter of interest, the production company made a slight mistake with the title as Krakatoa is actually west of Java.

Special Effects:

The special effects are quite good and very convincing for a late sixties film and definitely more than I expected to see. Made up mostly of miniature models and film montages.
