The Day the Earth Caught Fire

Rating:

Disaster:

End of the World

Plot Summary:

Panic grips the Earth after the USSR and the USA simultaneously detonate nuclear devices causing the earths orbit to change, sending it directly into the sun.

Comments:

An eerie English tale with some interesting effects. The film focuses on drama rather than disaster so don't expect any fantastic visual sequences. Still an interesting story so give it a look if you can.

Special Effects:

The only real effects shots in this film was the artificial fog that came in from the ocean. This looked very realistic and made for an eerie moment in the film. Watch this film for the drama, not the effects.
