    The Day of the Triffids

Rating:

Disaster:

Killer Creatures

Plot Summary:

A world-wide meteor shower causes all those who look at it to become blind within hours. With the meteor shower come mysterious plants capable of uprooting themselves and of attacking and killing people. These killer plants begin a bloody rampage on the people of England and eventually the world...

Comments:

An excellent piece of science fiction adventure. This film is more a sci-fi / horror flick than a disaster movie but the chaos, plane crash, train crash and burning cities tips the scales.

Special Effects:

The special effects in 'The day of the Triffids' is about as much as you could expect for an early sixties film. Brief and unrealistic panoramic shots using models made up the majority of the special effects scenes. Still, this is a classic for the story, not the effects.
